From that ten week class, I followed my teacher to her group classes and private classes. In May of 2002, a teacher
training program was offered through my teacher and I resisted the idea. Now this seems quite silly, for today as I write
this I am full time yoga teacher in Los Angeles and I actually resisted the idea of teaching? But it's true. After much
thought, I enrolled in the 500 hour Yoga Alliance Certification in the Iyengar Style and after 7 years of study and almost 3
years of certification, in June of 2004 I moved west to Los Angeles and the rest is history as they say.
Yoga has taught me what it means to be rich. Being rich has nothing to do with what you have, being rich is who you
are. It's how you walk in this world. It's how you perceive your reality. Yoga has allowed me to see more of myself and
ultimately more of God. For when we go within, we each other and even deeper within we find God.
Over the years I have had the privilege to study with the best: Suzy Pennington, John Schumacher, George Purvis,
Roger Cole, Kofi Busi, Manuso Manos, Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar. I have a genuine desire to help people liberate
themselves from blockages, whether it be emotional or physical. I feel yoga is "spirituality in action," and as a result my
classes are powerful and spiritually based. I am inspired and guided by yoga philosophy and is passionate about
connecting to authentic life through the subjugation of the ego.
Today I am currently teaching here in Los Angeles and since moving to Los Angeles in 2004 have taught thousands of
students and thousands of hours of yoga classes. I have taught some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, founded JosephYoga.
com in 2005 and debuted my home practice MP3 in early 06. My spiritual studies also include kabbalah at Los Angeles'
Kabbalah Center. Students have told me my classes are fun and challenging and the best in Los Angeles. I have
found great joy in doing what I love and working with so many amazing people. I hope you are one of them. Take this

In the winter of 1997, I saw a sign that read: "Yoga Class 10 Wks". This sign
was on small Karate Studio in my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. I was
intrigued. I went inside and I signed up for ten Saturday mornings of yoga. I
was 18 years old and I was a bit nervous but I was thrilled to soon experience
this thing called "yoga."
For weeks, I practiced yoga on those lovely and unforgettable Saturday
mornings with whom would end up being my beloved teacher now for almost
13 years. This class took me on a journey I never ever expected. I never ever
thought I would be a yoga teacher and I never thought yoga would send my
life into a higher and certainly tangent path. If I had not taken that class, I
